Arlene M. "Sugar" Al-Amin Clerk Arlene “Sugar” Al-Amin is the Rich Township Clerk, a Community Leader, and Bridge Builder. Clerk Arlene Al-Amin is a hands-on elected official that participates and is available to all in her Rich Township Community. Clerk Al-Amin has a passion for inclusiveness, and for all to reach their full potential, so she works tirelessly by being involved in multiple initiatives. Clerk Al-Amin also takes pride in having a strong, committed, and consistent team as her appointed Deputy Clerk, Devon Taylor, helps her facilitate the Clerk’s Department as well as other projects. Her involvement doesn’t stop with her position, she currently is the Board President, of The South Suburban Council (SSC) on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Active Member of Democratic Women of Southland Region (DWSR), Secretary of the Rich Township Democrats Organization (RTDO), Past President of Flossmoor Service League, Past Community Relations Commissioner of Village of Flossmoor, and past volunteer at the Jones Community Center in Chicago Heights where she spearheaded, Miss Sugar’s class for Daily Affirmations, Food and Health Awareness and Etiquette for the children that were apart of the center. The clerk is also responsible for organizing board meetings and posting legal announcements for the township and road district. The Clerk additionally countersigns orders or vouchers and has the authority to administer the oath of office.

Steven R. Burris Trustee Steven R. Burris was born into a family where he learned the value of civic responsibility from his uncle, Former U.S. Senator Roland Burris. He attended Eastern Illinois University and received a B.S. in Finance and earned a MBA degree from Lewis University, majoring in Finance. He is also certified to sit for the CPA exam. He has lived in Country Club Hills for over 30 years and Steven's experience and commitment to public service began as a staff member for his uncle where he served for many years. Trustee Burris is experienced in financial government, protecting your homeland, and educating your children. He has over 35 years of community service and is also a small business owner. Direct (708) 748- 6722 ext 5916 SBurris@richtownship.org Responsibilities of the Board of Trustees The Township Board consists of five members: the Supervisor as chairman, and four other members, each of whom has one vote. The town board is the legislative branch of township government, which establishes policy for the township to follow. Policies established by the town board are generally carried out by the supervisor and clerk in their capacities as administrators. The town board may not establish policies for either the township assessor or the highway commissioner. The township trustees are responsible for certifying tax levies for the township and road district. In the case of the road district, the amount of the levy is to be determined by highway commissioner. The town board of trustees is also responsible for adopting the annual budget and appropriation ordinance for the town, general assistance, and road and bridge funds. The trustees are also responsible for approving all town expense and auditing bills submitted for payment by the highway commissioner. The trustees have an obligation to approve all legally incurred bills to the extent that there is an appropriation for the expenditure. Conversely, the trustees have an obligation to reject for payment, all bills, including those for the road district that are not legally incurred debts.

Calvin Jordan Supervisor Calvin Jordan is an accomplished business proprietor, elected government official, and board member possessing over 30 years of progressive experience specializing in Leadership, Business and Community Development through the design, implementation, and oversight of municipal programs, social economic and community development. Motivated by challenges associated with bridging people together with organizations and resources to promote and sustain progress; ethically energized by the results of promoting sound business, governance, and human rights practices within vulnerable populations. Supervisor Jordan also served as the Township’s Highway Commissioner for 20 years, from 2001 to 2021. Supervisor Jordan also serves as a board member at Franciscan Alliance Hospital since 2007. Professionally he worked for the Cook County Board of Commissioners for over 22 years; first as a budget analyst and then later as the special assistant to the late former Cook County Board President John H. Stroger. Supervisor Jordan received his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Additionally, he has a certificate in Executive Development from DePaul University.
