Senior Services

The Rich Township Senior Services Department offers a wide variety of activities, programs, and events tailored for residents aged 55 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to provide enriching experiences that promote wellness, connection, and active community engagement. The Senior Center is a vibrant and welcoming space where older adults can socialize, build friendships, and take part in programs designed to enhance their quality of life.

Our offerings include classes in Tai Chi, Zumba, Flexercise, arts and crafts, wellness workshops, and much more. We also organize fun and memorable trips to popular destinations such as City Winery, Jazzin' at the Shed, the Illinois State Fair, and other exciting locations.

Additional services include barber appointments, home-delivered meals, and in-home support like light housekeeping for eligible seniors.

Book Corner

The Book Corner at Senior Services offers a cozy and welcoming space where seniors can browse and borrow a wide variety of books. Whether you're looking for a new novel, a classic favorite, or an inspiring memoir, the Book Corner has something for everyone. It's the perfect place to relax, discover new stories, and enjoy the joy of reading.

Flexercise

Flexercise is a gentle, low-impact exercise program designed to improve flexibility, strength, and mobility. Perfect for Seniors, it focuses on slow, controlled movements to increase joint range of motion, reduce stiffness, and enhance overall well-being. Flexercise can be done seated or standing, making it adaptable to different fitness levels. It’s a simple, enjoyable way to stay active and maintain independence while promoting better posture and balance.

Needlework

Needlework offers a creative and relaxing space for seniors to explore the art of stitching. Whether you enjoy knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or cross-stitch, this activity provides all the materials and support you need to create beautiful pieces. This is a great activity to help unwind, learn new skills, and share tips with fellow crafters, all while enjoying a sense of accomplishment and creativity.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi at Senior Services is a gentle and mindful exercise program designed to promote balance, flexibility, and relaxation. Led by experienced instructor(s), this low-impact practice focuses on slow, flowing movements that help improve strength, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. Whether you're new to Tai Chi or have practiced before, this class offers a peaceful and supportive environment to improve both body and mind.

Jewelry Making

Jewelry Making is a creative and hands-on way to craft beautiful, personalized accessories. Whether you're a beginner or experienced, this class provides the tools and guidance to design unique pieces, from necklaces to bracelets and earrings. It's a perfect way to express your creativity, learn new skills, and create stunning keepsakes or gifts. We offer two different types of Jewelry classes Wirer and Beads. Both classes are fun and relaxing.

In Home Support

For over 20 years, we've been dedicated to providing professional support to seniors and individuals with disabilities in Rich Township. Our mission is to bridge the gap In-Home services, ensuring that those in need receive the care and assistance they deserve. We offer personalized services that help individuals stay in their homes by assisting with daily tasks, tailored to each person's unique needs. Services are based on a client needs assessment and can be adjusted at any time.

Our services include:

Light housekeeping (dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping)
Bathroom and kitchen cleaning
Trash removal
Laundry
Transportation to local appointments and shopping within Rich Township or nearby areas (up to 3-4 stops per visit)
- Medical appointments
- Grocery shopping
- Hair appointments
Light meal preparation or meal reheating

Senior Center Weekly Lunch

Lunch is served every Wednesday at 12:00 PM at the Senior Center, offering a choice of a box lunch with a sub sandwich, fruit, chips, and a cookie, OR a chef salad. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with fellow seniors in our cozy café area. Before lunch, join us for Bingo at 11:00 AM. Meals are just $5.00 each. We welcome volunteers to help serve lunch, even if it's just once a month. Bingo and lunch are offered weekly during the school district's active session.

AARP Meeting

AARP meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Senior Center. Join us for informative discussions, community updates, and opportunities to connect with fellow AARP members. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate!
