Arlene M. "Sugar" Al-Amin Clerk Arlene “Sugar” Al-Amin is the Rich Township Clerk, a Community Leader, and Bridge Builder. Clerk Arlene Al-Amin is a hands-on elected official that participates and is available to all in her Rich Township Community. Clerk Al-Amin has a passion for inclusiveness, and for all to reach their full potential, so she works tirelessly by being involved in multiple initiatives. Clerk Al-Amin also takes pride in having a strong, committed, and consistent team as her appointed Deputy Clerk, Devon Taylor, helps her facilitate the Clerk’s Department as well as other projects. Her involvement doesn’t stop with her position, she currently is the Board President, of The South Suburban Council (SSC) on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Active Member of Democratic Women of Southland Region (DWSR), Secretary of the Rich Township Democrats Organization (RTDO), Past President of Flossmoor Service League, Past Community Relations Commissioner of Village of Flossmoor, and past volunteer at the Jones Community Center in Chicago Heights where she spearheaded, Miss Sugar’s class for Daily Affirmations, Food and Health Awareness and Etiquette for the children that were apart of the center. The clerk is also responsible for organizing board meetings and posting legal announcements for the township and road district. The Clerk additionally countersigns orders or vouchers and has the authority to administer the oath of office.

Dennis A. White, Esq Highway Commissioner Dennis A. White is an accomplished attorney and business professional. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1988, his J.D. from Northwestern University Law School in 1994, and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Business School in 1996. Commissioner White began his legal career in 1994 as a staff attorney in Washington, D.C., then subsequently for General Motors Corporation in Detroit, Michigan, after almost ten years he returned home to Chicago and joined the Chicago office of Holland & Knight, LLP Law Firm as Senior Counsel. Thereafter, Commissioner White accepted a position as the Chief Attorney of a special purpose unit of local government. Notwithstanding the professional endeavors described above, community service is a huge part of Commissioner White’s life. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the South Side Branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago; a member of the Business Leadership Council; and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Additionally, Commissioner White is a former member of the Plan Commission for the Village of Flossmoor, and of the Executive Board of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He was also a previous sponsor (and alumnus) of the LINK Unlimited Scholars program, which provides educational college preparatory opportunities for economically-disadvantaged African American high school youth. Sam A. Brown, CIAO Assessor Sam A. Brown assumed the role of Rich Township Assessor at the beginning of 2018. Prior to 2018, Sam served as a Property Tax Appeals Analyst and Hearing Officer for the Cook County Board of Review for 11 years. During this time Sam had the privilege of assisting thousands of Cook County residential property tax payers achieve fair and equitable property tax assessments via the appeals process. In the role of Assessor, Sam’s efforts focus on serving the residents of Rich Township by helping to ensure fair and equitable property assessments are achieved through the appeals process, and assisting residents in obtaining any homeowner/senior/disabled or other exemptions for which they are eligible to receive. Sam is a Certified Illinois Assessing Officer (CIAO), a requirement for becoming a Township Assessor. In addition, he has lived with his family in the Village of Matteson (Rich Township) for the past 35 years where he also served as a Village Trustee for 15 years. Nicholas P. Bobis Trustee Nicholas P. Bobis has been serving as a Trustee in Rich Township for the past thirteen years and brings a celebrated past as an educator and community servant. Bobis, a resident of Tinley Park, was a teacher and guidance counselor for 38 years in Thornton Township High School District 205 before retiring. A former longtime resident of South Holland, Bobis was President of South Holland Little League, operating under the slogan “Baseball For Everyone”, and he meant everyone. Bobis opened a Little League Challenger division for handicapped and disabled children, including those in wheelchairs and children who were blind. "I made sure that we provided baseball opportunities for handicapped children from many communities" said Bobis. While serving the students at Thornwood High School, Bobis was an extracurricular Speech and Debate Coach for a total of 43 years even beyond his retirement as with several State Championships and National Tournament finalists. He was also the “Voice of Thornwood" serving as the announcer of football and basketball games for thirty years. In 2008, he received an American Teacher Award as part of the Disney Channel’s “Salute to Educators”. As a Trustee Nicholas Bobis is also the President of the Trustees Division of the Township Officials of Cook County. In his community, Bobis has been on the condo board of the Southern Pines Condominium Association for 18 years and has served as the Treasurer and President, positions he currently holds. He has served as a Parish Council member in the Greek Orthodox Church and is currently a member and volunteer at the St. Spyridon Hellenic Orthodox Church in Palos Heights. Direct (708) 748- 6722 SAl-Amin@richtownship.org Responsibilities of the Township Clerk / FOIA Officer The Township Board consists of five members: the Supervisor as chairman, and four other members, each of whom has one vote. The town board is the legislative branch of township government, which establishes policy for the township to follow. Policies established by the town board are generally carried out by the supervisor and clerk in their capacities as administrators. The town board may not establish policies for either the township assessor or the highway commissioner. The township trustees are responsible for certifying tax levies for the township and road district. In the case of the road district, the amount of the levy is to be determined by highway commissioner. The town board of trustees is also responsible for adopting the annual budget and appropriation ordinance for the town, general assistance, and road and bridge funds. The trustees are also responsible for approving all town expense and auditing bills submitted for payment by the highway commissioner. The trustees have an obligation to approve all legally incurred bills to the extent that there is an appropriation for the expenditure. Conversely, the trustees have an obligation to reject for payment, all bills, including those for the road district that are not legally incurred debts.

Drivers or staff cannot and will not enter your home. All wheelchair and handicapped riders who need assistance must be accompanied by a person who will aid them to and from the bus. What is the earliest time I can schedule a ride? The first pick-up is at 8:30 am. When is the latest time I can schedule a ride? The last return is at 2:30 pm. The last return is at 2:00 pm for shopping. How can I apply for an RTA discount pass? Seniors who are 55 years of age and persons who are disabled. Calvin Jordan Supervisor Calvin Jordan is an accomplished business proprietor, elected government official, and board member possessing over 30 years of progressive experience specializing in Leadership, Business and Community Development through the design, implementation, and oversight of municipal programs, social economic and community development. Motivated by challenges associated with bridging people together with organizations and resources to promote and sustain progress; ethically energized by the results of promoting sound business, governance, and human rights practices within vulnerable populations. Supervisor Jordan also served as the Township’s Highway Commissioner for 20 years, from 2001 to 2021. Supervisor Jordan also serves as a board member at Franciscan Alliance Hospital since 2007. Professionally he worked for the Cook County Board of Commissioners for over 22 years; first as a budget analyst and then later as the special assistant to the late former Cook County Board President John H. Stroger. Supervisor Jordan received his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Additionally, he has a certificate in Executive Development from DePaul University.
