Dennis A. White is an accomplished attorney and business professional. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1988, his J.D. from Northwestern University Law School in 1994, and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Business School in 1996.

 

Commissioner White began his legal career in 1994 as a staff attorney in Washington, D.C., then subsequently for General Motors Corporation in Detroit, Michigan, after almost ten years he returned home to Chicago and joined the Chicago office of Holland & Knight, LLP Law Firm as Senior Counsel. Thereafter, Commissioner White accepted a position as the Chief Attorney of a special purpose unit of local government.

 

Notwithstanding the professional endeavors described above, community service is a huge part of Commissioner White’s life. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the South Side Branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago; a member of the Business Leadership Council; and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Additionally, Commissioner White is a former member of the Plan Commission for the Village of Flossmoor, and of the Executive Board of the Chicago Association of Realtors. He was also a previous sponsor (and alumnus) of the LINK Unlimited Scholars program, which provides educational college preparatory opportunities for economically-disadvantaged African American high school youth.
