Rick Reinbold, Village President of Richton Park, along with several Richton Park Village Officials and Officers presented Supervisor Riley with the township’s share of a TIF rebate check in the amount of $52,297.57.
Ellis Flaws of unincorporated Matteson updated the Board on the proposed “Mara’s Mentoring House” on 204th Street, and the Crawford Countryside Sanitary District. He also thanked Highway Commissioner Jordan for speaking at the Crawford Countryside Civic Association’s Annual Meeting.
Maurice Brown, Monee Township Trustee introduced himself and congratulated the Board on Rich Township receiving the “Township of the Year” award at the Townships of Illinois conference last November. He added that he was attending many township board meetings throughout Illinois.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
Supervisor: Supervisor Al Riley attended the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Legislative Breakfast, a welcoming event for the new director of the Richton Park Library, and an event recognizing the 83 years of service of Star Detective Agency.
Supervisor Riley reviewed legislation that concerns townships.
Clerk: Deputy Clerk Debbie Pascarella reported that Statement of Economic Interest forms should be mailed soon from Cook County Offices to board members, adding that the clerk’s office needs a copy of the stamped receipt. She also noted that the Annual Town Meeting is Tuesday, April 13th at the Senior Center in Park Forest, and that reports were needed in the clerk’s office by Friday, April 9th.
Assessor: Assessor Carol Ranieri reported that her office had been extremely busy—1400 people came through her office during the past ten weeks. She added that some were from other townships seeking assistance.
Even though the Board of Review for the 2009 tax year is not yet open for Rich Township, she noted that her office has already accepted between 250—300 applications.
Assessor Ranieri welcomed back her Deputy Assessor Pam Barton from recent knee replacement surgery.
Assessor Ranieri attended the South Suburban Crisis Center Dinner, and will be attending continuing education classes in Bloomington with her Deputy Assessor Pam Barton.
Highway Commissioner: Highway Commissioner Calvin Jordan thanked his staff for their efficient clearing of the roads, adding that there had been a record 23 inches of snow and ice during the month of February.
Highway Commissioner Calvin Jordan attended a Floyd Atkins Art Exhibit at Prairie State College, a St. James Hospital event, and spoke at the Crawford Countryside Civic Association’s Annual Meeting.
Trustee Caesar-Smith: Reported that due to her employment at Governors State University, she is often in a position to recommend township services to residents.
Trustee Karen Caesar-Smith attended the DuSable Museum’s “Night of 100 Stars” event and the PLCCA Dinner.

Trustee Bobis: Reported that his church had received additional donations for the Tabitha Clothing Pantry. He noted that the speech team that he coaches at Thornwood High School came in 1st in state competition.
Trustee Nick Bobis attended the Crisis Center of South Suburbia Extravaganza and the South Suburban Small Business Association Breakfast where Supervisor Al Riley was honored for economic development.
Attorney: Paul Stephanides noted that he would be conducting a training session on “How to Run a Meeting”, and invited the board.

Upon a motion made by Trustee Bobis, seconded by Trustee Caesar-Smith, and unanimously passed by roll call vote, the Board approved the drafts for posting.
Resolution 10-5 Motion to Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the Township Supervisor, the Township Administrator, and the Township Clerk to Execute a Community Development Block Grant Subrecipient Agreement with Cook County for Project Number 09-101: Upon a motion made by Trustee Bobis, seconded by Trustee Caesar-Smith and unanimously passed by roll call vote, the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 10-5.
Approval and Adoption of Agenda for Annual Town Meeting: Upon a motion made by Trustee Caesar-Smith, seconded by Trustee Bobis, and unanimously passed by voice vote, the Board approved the agenda for the 160th Annual Town Meeting. The Annual Town Meeting will be held on April 13, 2010 at 6:30pm.
Budget Presentations—Budget proposals were presented for Administration, EMA, Food Pantry, General Assistance, and Road & Bridge.
