Call to Order: Supervisor Al Riley called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Present: Trustees Nick Bobis, Therese Goodrich, Elliott Johnson

Town Fund, General Assistance Fund, Road District Fund, Donation Fund and Senior Companion Fund: Upon a motion made by Trustee Goodrich, seconded by Trustee Johnson and unanimously passed by roll call vote, the Board approved Town Fund checks #17,526—17,694 in the amount of $288,010.32; General Assistance Fund checks #10,382—10,506 in the amount of $32,032.89; Road District Fund checks #3,904—3,941 in the amount of $77,370.54; Donations Fund checks #1,315—1,320 in the amount $7,863.35; and Senior Companion Fund checks #4,997—5,066 in the amount of $29,956.49 for the period of 12/30/09 thru 01/26/10.
Approval Of Minutes: Upon a motion made by Trustee Goodrich, seconded by Trustee Bobis, and unanimously passed by voice vote, the Board approved the minutes of the January 4, 2010 Board of Trustees meeting.
PUBLIC PETITIONS Ellis Flaws of unincorporated Matteson updated the Board on the proposed “Mara’s Mentoring House” on 204th Street, and the Crawford Countryside Sanitary District.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
Supervisor: Supervisor Al Riley attended Park Forest Health Department Director Chris Blue’s retirement party, a forum on foreclosures, Illinois Association of Park Districts meeting, spoke at the Southland Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Breakfast and Governors State University’s Dr. Martin Luther King Day Celebration. He also presented an award to Forest Trail Middle School in Park Forest in recognition of their first place ranking in the region among fourth through eighth grade students in the Capitol Challenge of the national Stock Market Game.
Supervisor Riley noted that he will be receiving the “Economic Development Leader of the Year” award from the South Suburban Small Business Association.
Clerk: Clerk Bobbie King reported that Statement of Economic Interest forms should be mailed soon to board members from Cook County, adding that her office needs a copy of the stamped receipt. She expressed her gratitude to Trustee Bobis for organizing a clothing drive at his church to benefit Tabitha Clothing Pantry.
Clerk King attended a La Rabida Advisory Board meeting.
Assessor: Assessor Carol Ranieri reported that even though 2009 was not a triennial year, her office submitted 174 appeals to Cook County Assessor’s Office. She added that the results of these 174 appeals resulted in reductions of 643,533 in assessed values.
She noted that at her Cook County Townships Assessor’s meeting, three of the four candidates for Cook County Assessor answered questions submitted by Township Assessors.
Highway Commissioner: Highway Commissioner Calvin Jordan attended a Southland Chamber of Commerce luncheon, St. James Hospital’s Ethnic Dinner event, and several Dr. Martin Luther King Day remembrance events. He shared a precipitation report for January 2010.
Trustee Caesar-Smith: Absent
Trustee Goodrich: Attended the League of Women Voters fundraiser, Park Forest Health Department Director Chris Blue’s retirement party, Park Forest Historical Society’s Planning Program for the Hall of Fame Awards, TOCC Trustees Division meeting, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra program, and announced the “walk” for La Rabida in May.
Trustee Johnson: Attended the TOCC Trustee Division meeting, U.S. Census Luncheon, Southland Healthcare Summit, and announced that he will be hosting the March TOCC Trustees Division meeting.
Trustee Bobis: Reported that he organized a clothing drive at his church, St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox for the Tabitha Clothing Pantry. He added that there were over 20 boxes of clothes to be delivered to the clothing pantry. Trustee Bobis attended the TOCC Trustee Division meeting.
Attorney: No report OLD BUSINESS

Budget Presentations—Assessor’s Office, Senior Services and Transportation Departments presented their budget proposals.
Resolution 10-1 Motion to Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the Township Supervisor, the Township Administrator, and the Township Clerk to Execute a Community Development Block Grant Subrecipient Agreement with Cook County for Project Number 09-101: Upon a motion made by Trustee Goodrich, seconded by Trustee Johnson and unanimously passed by roll call vote, the Board of Trustees approved Resolution 10-1.
ADJOURNMENT: Upon a motion made by Trustee Goodrich, seconded by
Trustee Bobis, and unanimously approved by voice vote, the Board Meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
