Ellis Flaws of unincorporated Matteson expressed that the Crawford Countryside Homeowner’s Association had concerns regarding the proposed “Mara’s Mentoring House” on 204th Street, and updated the Board on the Crawford Countryside Sanitary District.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
Supervisor: Supervisor Al Riley attended a South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) meeting, Chicago Urban League meeting, Illinois Farm Bureau meeting, Southland Healthcare Forum, Southland Human Services Summit, 11th Annual Paul Simon Public Service Awards, legislative breakfast, legislative lunch and visited Thomson Correctional Center.
He also received a Legislative Service Award at the Grand Prairie Services annual business meeting and President’s Award from the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.
Clerk: Clerk Bobbie King noted that the last day to register to vote for the February 2nd Primary Election is January 5th, and that early voting begins January 11th and ends January 28th.
Clerk King shared a letter from the owners of Home Helpers of Park Forest indicating that they had “made a $1000.00 donation to Tabitha Clothing Pantry after reading an article in the paper that featured Bobbie King’s efforts with providing winter clothing for those in need in our community”.
Clerk King attended the Township Officials of Cook County (TOCC) Clerk’s Division meeting and holiday party.
Assessor: Assessor Carol Ranieri reported that the Cook County Assessor’s office has begun mailing letters to taxpayers with their reductions from the 2009 complaints filed with their office.
Assessor Ranieri noted that her office is entering building permits and sales into the computer. She also shared a chart that illustrated how local tax rates can affect tax bills.
Assessor Ranieri volunteered at the Senior Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner.
Highway Commissioner: Highway Commissioner Calvin Jordan expressed his appreciation to all that volunteered at the Senior Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner.
He shared a precipitation report for December 2009, and reported that his staff clears the snow of the roads in shifts so that drivers do not become too tired.

Trustee Caesar-Smith: No report
Trustee Goodrich: Attended the Matteson Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) holiday program, volunteered at the township’s Senior Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner, volunteered with PADS, and shared information on the upcoming candidate’s forum hosted by League of Women Voters.
Trustee Johnson: Reported that he will be attending the Township Official’s of Cook County (TOCC) Trustees Division meeting on January 21st, and that he will be hosting an upcoming TOCC Trustees Division meeting.
Trustee Bobis: Attended the Matteson Rotary Club holiday event, Southern Pines Condo Association Homeowner’s Association holiday party, and volunteered at the township’s Senior Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner.
Attorney: Attorney Paul Stephanides noted that he enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner.

Amended General Assistance Budget and Appropriations Ordinance Public Hearing Notice: Upon a motion made by Trustee Goodrich, seconded by Trustee Johnson, and unanimously passed by roll call vote, the Board approved publishing a public hearing notice for an amended general assistance budget and appropriations ordinance public hearing on March 8, 2010 if necessary.
