Ellis Flaws of unincorporated Matteson noted with sadness the passing of Dewey Helmick, a former three term Supervisor at Rich Township and major sponsor of the Old Plank Road Trail. He also updated the Board on the Crawford Countryside Sanitary District.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS

Assessor: Assessor Carol Ranieri reported that the 2nd installments of the 2008 real estate tax bills are due on December 1st. She also noted that the mailing of the 2009 assessment notices, and the 2nd installment tax bills so close together caused confusion for many taxpayers. Assessor Ranieri reported that for the 2009 assessment period, her office averaged 60-70 people in the office a day, and 40-50 phone calls daily.
Assessor Ranieri noted that re-assessments are done every 3 years, and that this is the first time that there have been two re-assessment notices back to back, adding that this was a result of the downturn in the market.
Assessor Ranieri announced that she was elected as Secretary of the Cook County Township Assessor’s Association Executive Board for another 2 years, and that she attended the Food Pantry’s Fashion Show fundraiser.
Highway Commissioner: Highway Commissioner Calvin Jordan reported that his annual fall clean up day for the unincorporated areas went very well. He noted that the annual Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner for seniors would be on December 11th.
