If you are age 60 years or older or disabled, live in Rich Township, and have an established need for services, we are here to serve you. There are no requirements to participate in our social activities-all are welcome!

FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION
Soon the 2012 Income Tax returns will be due, and once again AARP is sponsoring the Senior Tax Aide Program in our community.
Beginning on Tuesday, February 4, through Tuesday, April 15, 2014, free income tax preparation, including electronic filing, will be available for those 60 years of age and older ONLY.
This service will be held at the Rich Township, Leonard Robinson, Family Cen-ter, 22013 Governors Highway, Richton Park. This service is available each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the last scheduled appointment at 2:00 p.m.

Please bring copies of your 2012 tax return, and 2013 W-2's, 1099's, your property tax bill and all other income forms (except for self-employment and rental income). Transportation is available through Rich Township. Please call 708-748-6727 if you need a ride.
MOVIE OF THE MONTH
On Wednesday, February 12, at 1:00 p.m., we will feature the musical drama, "Les Misera-bles," starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.
The story follows former prisoner, Jean Valjean, who, after being re-leased from the watchful eye of police officer, Javert, is unable to find work because of his status as an ex-convict. He eventually steals from a local church, but when apprehended, the priest claims that Valjean was given the valuables. (Rated PG-13, 2 hours & 18 minutes in length).

Rich Township Senior Café
Invites you to join us for food, fun and friendship! Lunch is served at 12:00 noon, Monday – Friday for $2.50. A hot nutritionally balanced meal is served each day.

The Rich Township Senior Center is in need of volunteers to deliver meals to the homebound. If you would like to devote about 1 hour, once a week, to assist with this very worthwhile program, please call Sally Fuhrmann at 228-5040. A back-ground check is required for all volunteers.

Information and Referral: We offer assistance and information about available township programs as well as referrals to other agencies as needed. (Back to top)
Transportation: Door-to-door service to seniors as well as younger handicapped adults. Reserve your ride two days in advance, or one hour ahead for shopping. (Back to top)
Sharing and Caring: Senior volunteers periodically contact Township residents to offer information, assistance and companionship. Volunteer today! (Back to top)
Senior Cafe: Hot lunch for a suggested donation of $2.50. Call 708.747.2700 for reservations. Located in our Senior Center at 297 Liberty Drive in Park Forest. You do not have to be a Rich Township resident. (Back to top)
Informal Counseling: Personal or Family Problems? Our Senior Case Manager is available to counsel you in our Senior Center or in your home. (Back to top)
Income Tax Assistance: This is a free service by trained AARP volunteers. They will prepare income tax returns, for seniors age 60 and up, from February 1st through April 15th, Monday through Friday. For more information on how to sign up, please click here. (Back to top)
Telephone Reassurance Calls: Our staff will check daily on the well-being of seniors with particular health problems and needs. If you know someone who would benefit from a daily check-in, contact us. (Back to top)
Senior Companion Program: Active seniors are assigned to those seniors needing companionship and other services on a regular basis. (Back to top)
In-Home Services: Light housekeeping, shopping and laundry for seniors needing such assistance. Screened In-Home Workers are available after an in-home evaluation establishes a need. (Back to top)
Extend-A-Meal: Home delivered meals to those who are unable to prepare their own. Based on an in-home assessment, one may be eligible for one hot noon meal delivered five days a week. (Back to top)

Health Stop: A variety of health screenings such as cholesterol, urinalysis, diabetes, anemia, hearing, and height and weight check are available on the fourth Thursday of each month from 10 .a.m to noon are provided by the Park Forest Health Department. (Back to top)

AARP Safety Driving Program: The AARP Safe Driving Class will be held at our senior center Tuesday, February 25 and Wednesday, February 26, 2014. The class will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. You must attend both sessions in order to become certified.The class will help update you on driving rules, and can qualify seniors for a discount on their car insurance.
