As an elected official Rich Township, the Collector assists the Cook County Treasurer in collecting homeowner property taxes within Cook County. The Collector delivers a monthly report at Township Board meetings and participates in Board meeting discussions on Township policies. In addition, the Collector often serves as the Township's at-large representative at conferences and association meetings. Because Collector positions are allowed in townships of 150,000 people or more, only five Illinois counties have an elected township tax collector: Madison, Peoria, Sangamon, Will and Cook.
